Our client is expanding its construction, facilities maintenance operations over the upcoming 3 years. This position will provide site safety oversight responsibilities for Swain’s and its sub-contractors’ construction operations.  He/she will work to assure all client’s and its subcontractors’ workers follow client’s, and their clients’ project safety standards and requirements; with the goal of minimal (zero) health and safety incidents.

This position will provide site safety oversight responsibilities for Swain’s and its sub-contractors’ construction operations.  He/she will work to assure all client’s and its subcontractors’ workers follow client’s, and their clients’ project safety standards and requirements; with the goal of minimal (zero) health and safety incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Verification and maintenance of client and subcontractor safety certifications.
- Assure project workers and subcontractors safety program and procedures are initiated and maintained during work time.
- Close coordination with client and subcontractors’ leadership to verify all toolbox talks and training meetings are held, attended, and documented.
- Reviews and processes all safe work permits and documentation.
- Obtain, review, and upload all required safety related daily, weekly, and monthly documentation.
- Performs regular safety walkthrough inspections of the job site.
- Performs inspections of equipment.
- Initiated and monitors equipment repair abatement procedures.
- Enforces all safety rules, escalates all violations of safety rules to client leadership.
- Maintains accurate and current records.
- Conducts and/or manages all incident investigations including injury incidents and near misses, identifies corrective actions, and tracks their implementation.
- Coordinate with Client EHS to ensure construction activities do not impact site environmental permits conditions.  Participate regulatory agency inspections related to construction activities.
- Ensure construction waste (RCRA hazardous and non-hazardous) is properly disposed.
- Ensure that recycling efforts are maximized for construction waste. Track and document waste disposal and recycling amounts monthly.
- Qualifications & Experience
3+ minimum years of EHS experience in heavy industry environment. - 3+ years’ experience in construction safety environment.
- All relevant OHSA safety training/certifications (Fall protection, excavation safety/competent person, electrical safety, fire prevention, hand and portable power tools, ladders, cranes, LOTO, etc.)
- Experience with construction safety in procedure-based construction companies preferred.
- Experience with electrical construction preferred.
- CHST / OHST / CSP certification preferred.
